Cultivated Threads was established in 2017 as a full service merchandising company located in Little Rock, Arkansas, specializing in high quality screen printing, embroidery and promotional items. It is the fourth of four companies created, owned and operated by the Bemis family of Little Rock.
Nathan Bemis, oldest son of Tracey and Donna Bemis, runs Cultivated Threads for the family and is whom customers speak with when they call. The story behind the company is interesting, and one that took its own amount of time to ‘cultivate’. It all began with a tree farm.
The tree farm was first planted in 1978 by the previous owner with the intent of transplanting large shade trees for customers. The tree farm is located only 15-minutes from downtown Little Rock. Tracey Bemis began working for the previous owner in 1984.
Tracey and Donna Bemis bought the tree farm and officially established the Bemis Tree Farm in 1992. The farm included 80 acres of land along with a 90-inch Big John Tree Transplanter mounted on a 1985 Mack Truck. The tree farm primarily dealt with large shade trees. The business grew to include smaller trees and shrubs with the help of their two sons, Nathan and Jeremy.
After the success of the tree farm, the Bemis family expanded their business interests into other areas. In 2012, Bemis Stump Busters was created offering professional stump removal services throughout the central Arkansas area. Based on that company’s success, the Bemis Honey Bee Farm was created the following year to provide honeybees, beekeeping supplies, and educational classes to apiarists and bee keeping enthusiasts. Then, in 2017, Cultivated Threads was started and is located at the farm as a full service screen printing and embroidery company.
Through the Bemis family’s company’s growth, it has become Bemis Family Farms. The enterprise has expanded to 185 acres and the family members are working on their third generation of farmers.
